Similar to the Central chain is Robinson's with branches at 2 Silom Rd. and 1522 Charoen Krung (New Rd.). Like Central, it's best for buying staples such as socks, underwear, and other basics. A real trip is browsing in the perpetually crowded Thai Tokyu department store in the Maboonkrong (MBK) at the corner of Rama I and Phayathai roads (where you'll also find one of Bangkok's best food court); this is better for the spectacle of "how Bangkok shops" than for the merchandise.
