Welcome to the exciting world of Muay Thai, a martial art like no others, and a proud heritage of a nation.

Most provincial capitals have a boxing ring, but the ultimate dream of young boxers is to fight at Lumpini or Ratchadamnoen, the biggest and most famous stadiums in the country. Lumpini and Ratchadamnoen alternate, so there is a fight program every night. Tickets on an average evening are 220, 440 and 1,000 baht, but on big nights prices of ringside seats may go up to 2,000 baht.

::The Rose Garden:: - gorgeous landscaped orchid and rose gardens, aviaries and a re-created Thai village, offering a spectacular one-hour cultural show which includes dance, martial arts, religious ceremonies and elephants, usually incorporated in sightseeing tours of Bangkok. Open daily 8 am-6 pm. Admission: 200 Baht. 20 miles/32 km west of Bangkok.

::The Thai Village Cultural Show:: - The Thai Village and its Cultural Show comes alive with a cast of 150 gifted performers from the local community, many of whom who have lived with their families in the ‘Thai Village’ at The Rose Garden and/or have worked at the resort since its opening in 1969. With the local community still going about their daily chores and living their lives as they normally would in rural Thailand, the village provides a natural and perfect backdrop for the Thai Village Cultural Show. Visitors and guests are presented with a rare opportunity to witness and experience Thai ways in a natural setting. The show is performed daily from 14.45 to 16.00.

::The Ancient City::

Taking up 320 acres of land, roughly in the shape of Thailand, the huge park reproduces -- usually on a smaller scale -- important buildings from around Thailand.
There are over 100 monuments collected or reproduced. Some of them are reconstruction’s of buildings that no longer exist.
Other buildings are examples of traditional vernacular architecture that were scheduled to be demolished and instead were purchased by the Ancient City, dismantled and reconstructed in the park. Many of the buildings represent religious and royal sites from around Thailand as well as from the past.
A visit to the Ancient City makes an excellent, although potentially exhausting, full day outing from Bangkok.
Be sure to start early and allow yourself the better part of a day to see everything.
The Ancient City is located on the old Sukhumvit road. Its not far from the Crocodile Farm, which is a better known attraction.
Admission is 50 Baht for adults -- little more than US$1. Another 50 Baht is charged to bring in your own car. The Ancient City is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
